Obituary

Willard E. Williams, 73, passed away at his home on May 10th, 2025. Was born in Salida, CO on August 20th, 1951 to Richard Owen & Willie "Dolly" Elizabeth (Payne) Williams.

Will had a passion for anything electronic, figuring out how things worked & was very mechanically minded. Will never met a stranger and could talk his way in or out of anything.

He said he was a weird kid who read and learned about TV and radio and studied binomial numbers. When he was 15, he made a radio station in his bedroom and used a fishing pole in a tree for the antenna. He broadcast as KTUX, saying it was in Gnome Alaska.

He had an ornery side to him and would have everyone laughing about the pranks he would pull on co-workers.

Will worked at KGIW radio for 60 years as a DJ, salesman & engineer. He also worked for the Colorado State Patrol for 23 years, transferring to communications for the last couple of years until his retirement. He received several awards & was highly recognized. He was chosen to travel & dispatch for the CSP for lost hunters in the mountains and a Rainbow Family Convention. He wrote computer programs for the patrol, including the valley-wide 911 system.

He never had any training, just a passion for learning and excelling at anything he did. He always reminded us to "never give up."

Will had an unshakable testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. God, Jesus & the Holy Ghost.

Will is survived by Pam, his beloved wife of 40 years, his children Bryan, Lori, Kyle & Jason (Amanda), his sister Shirley Crews, his mother & father-in-law Rod & Sue Murr, his brother-in-law John (Kathrine) Murr, six grandchildren, 2 great grand children and buddy Bo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Harold & Richard Williams, his beloved cocker spaniels Sugar, Mattie, and Rosie.

Cremation was selected. Contributions are suggested to local animal shelters in his memory.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 927 Weber Drive, in Alamosa, CO.
