In Loving Memory of Wayne Arthur Schwab
April 9, 1956 – April 26, 2026
Wayne Arthur Schwab, a man of endless curiosity and a true "fixer of all things," passed away on April 27, 2026, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born and raised in the vibrant border town of El Paso, Texas, Wayne's spirit was shaped by the open road and the grit of the Southwest. In his later years, he found peace and beauty in the landscapes of Alamosa, Colorado, where he continued his lifelong pursuit of trying new things and embracing the outdoors.
A Life of Adventure and Service, Wayne was a man of many hats—and many miles. Whether he was behind the wheel of a truck, navigating the highway on his bike, or restoring something broken to its former glory, he approached life with a "can-do" attitude. He was known to his friends and family as:
• The Trucker: A professional of the long haul.
• The Biker: A free spirit who loved the wind in his face.
• The Fixer-Upper: A craftsman who could solve almost any mechanical puzzle.
• The Great Guy: A loyal friend with a heart as big as the Texas sky.
Wayne's greatest pride was his family. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Warren and Mary Schwab. He is survived by his devoted and wonderful wife, Martha Cano Schwab, whose unwavering love, courage, and care during his illness provided him with immense comfort. He is also survived by his son, Sebastian Cano, who he cared for deeply.
He leaves behind a large and loving family of siblings who will miss him dearly:
• Brothers: Steve, Charlie, and Richard (Bev).
• Sisters: Susan Leuthauser (Chuck), Carole Lunsford (Ken), Kathi Cervantes (David), and Tricia Barina Wilkinson (Mike).
As well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The Schwab family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Martha for the exceptional support and strength she showed throughout Wayne's journey.
"To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."
Wayne's curiosity, kindness, and rugged spirit will live on in every engine he tuned, every mile he traveled, and every life he touched. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Visitation with Celebration of Life will be held from 11-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the Rogers Family Mortuary, 205 State Avenue, in Alamosa.
