Longtime Manassa resident Timothy "Eli" Whitney, 55, passed away on July 30, 2021. He was born on July 31, 1965 in La Jara, Colorado to David Larry and Patricia Ann (Richardson) Whitney. Tim was the first Eagle Scout in Manassa at a young age. He always had a love for the outdoors, he enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He was also an avid sports fan and was often found supporting any of the Colorado teams. Above all, he truly cherished spending time with his family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Tim is survived by his wife Tana Whitney of Manassa, his children, Ashley Whitney of Alamosa, Tyler Whitney of Manassa and Jordan Whitney of Alamosa as well as his parents Larry and Patricia Whitney, his siblings, Cindy Whitney of Gunnison, Carol (Charles) Taulbee of Farmington, New Mexico and Donnie Whitney of Albuquerque, his nephews, Justin Marquis and Jared Marquis, his parents-in-law Lyle and Carla Hutchins as well as other extended loving family.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday August 5, 2021 at the Manassa Stake Center. Interment will follow services in the Manassa cemetery. To express condolences, please visit www.rogersfunerals.com
