Thomas Edwin

August 17, 1929 – January 8, 2024
Alamosa- MSGT. Thomas Edwin Blunt
MSGT. Thomas Edwin Blunt, a man of exceptional courage and boundless love, left this world on January 8, 2024, at the age of 94, in Alamosa, Colorado. Born on August 17, 1929, in Lawton, Oklahoma, Thomas grew into a man whose life story was marked by dedicated service.
Thomas was a graduate of Sergeant High School. Upon graduating, he embraced a life of service by joining the United States Army, and after 2 years, he discovered his true calling in the United States Air Force. With a distinguished career spanning 23 years, Thomas achieved the rank of Master Sergeant, a testament to his dedication and skill. His work as a photo developer and on surveillance systems across various aircraft took him to distant lands, including Korea and Vietnam, and allowed him to reside in the community of Napoleon Country Estates.
Thomas was an active and respected member of the Board of Directors at the Homelake Veterans Center, where he also operated the museum, ensuring that the stories of his fellow veterans were honored and preserved. His commitment to comradeship was further seen in his involvement with the American Legion Garcia Post #110 in Saguache. However, it was perhaps in the tranquility of bird watching and the majesty of the mountains that Thomas found his greatest peace, connecting with nature and the beauty of the world around him.
Above all, Thomas's heart belonged to his family. He is survived by his daughter Lisa (Mark) Brown of Mosca, CO, and son-in-law Charlie (Debbie) Harris of Monte Vista, CO. His legacy includes five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life and his source of endless joy. He could often be found in the stands at their games, his voice ringing out with his signature cheer, "Fire it up T-Birds!"—a chant that will echo in their memories forever. Thomas's passing was preceded by that of his beloved wife, Maxine, his dear daughter, Susan Harris, his sister, Dixie (Larry) Pierce, and his brother, Bill (Sue) Blunt.
Thomas's journey through life was one of purpose and passion. Let us remember him as a motivational force, a man who, through his own example, taught us the value of commitment to one's country, the importance of cherishing our loved ones, and the profound impact a single individual can have on the world. As we bid farewell to MSGT. Thomas Edwin Blunt, let his story inspire us to live with the same unwavering love and bravery that he displayed throughout his remarkable 94 years. His legacy will continue to guide and uplift us.
