It is with deep sorrow yet profound gratitude that we announce the passing of Terry James Vance, on June 24, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on September 20, 1945, Terry lived a life rich in service, love, and dedication.
Terry proudly served his country in the United States Navy, embodying the values of loyalty and courage throughout his life. After his honorable service, he channeled his passion for education and leadership into a significant role as the School Board President of the North Conejos School District, where he dedicated himself to nurturing the minds of young learners and supporting educators in their mission.
Terry earned his bachelor's degree from Southern Colorado State College in Pueblo, CO, laying a strong foundation for his future endeavors. He went on to work as a Foreman for Dicaperl, where he was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Terry's love for life extended far beyond his professional achievements. He cherished the simple pleasures of life, particularly farming and camping, where he found solace and joy in the embrace of nature. On December 3, 1966, he married the love of his life, Georgia Carol Todd, at Christ the King Church in Pueblo, beginning a journey filled with love, adventure, and cherished memories.
He is survived by his beloved children, Jeffery (Elissa) Vance, Christopher (Jessica) Vance, , Denise Tollenaar, Melissa (Brad) Milner, Pamela (Joshua) Sinclair, Amber (Ben) Burnett who carries forward his legacy of kindness and strength. He is further survived by his siblings, Kathy (Jim) Larimore, Sam (Debra) Vance, and Randy (Laura) Vance; and his brother-in-law, Al Livingstone; along with several grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, John Terry Vance and Harriet Lorraine (Van Teylingen) Vance; his wife, Georgia Carol (Todd) Vance; his infant son, Daniel Vance; his sisters, Jackie Martin and Alice Livingstone; and his nephew, Duane Martin.
In reverence of his remarkable life, funeral services will be held in honor of Terry James Vance on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at United Church of La Jara with the visitation starting at 9 am and the service to take place at 10 am. Terry will be laid to rest following the service at La Jara Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate his legacy, to share stories, and to find comfort in one another.
As we reflect on Terry's life, let us remember him not just for his accomplishments but for the warmth he brought to those around him. May his spirit continue to inspire us all, reminding us to live fully, love deeply, and cherish the moments we share.
