Monte Vista resident Susan E. Lucero, 73, passed away on August 16, 2021. She was born on March 4, 1948 in La Jara, Colorado to Ben and Bernice (Esquibel) Martinez. Susan grew up in Greeley, Colorado and moved to Monte Vista in 1983. She enjoyed embroidery, doing puzzles, barbecuing and above all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Leonard) Trujillo of Monte Vista, her son Fabian (Elaine) Lucero of Del Norte, her grandchildren, Manuel (Claudia) Rodriguez, Anthony (Janelle) Lucero, Michael Lucero, Leonard "Junior" Trujillo, Lydia Garcia and Alexis Cisneros as well as her great grandchildren, Mykellya Trujillo, Anthony Lucero, Noah Medina and Miguel Lucero and her siblings, Elsie Manzanares, Angie Marquez, Vernon Martinez, Anita Eenyart as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, her son Anthony Lucero, grandson Joseph Trujillo, brothers, Toby Martinez, Archie Martinez, Flaco Martinez and her sisters, Carol Alvarez and Priscilla Medina.

Cremation was selected and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday August 28, 2021 at the Grace Community Church in Monte Vista, with burial of the ashes taking place in Workers Union Cemetery. To express condolences to the family, please visit www.rogersfunerals.com
