Obituary

Sue Ann Knoblauch, 89, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, in Davenport, Iowa.

Sue Ann Haynie was born March 12, 1936, in La Jara, Colorado, to John Delbert Haynie and Lottie Estelle Ray. Sue Ann graduated from high school and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in education from Brigham Young University, followed by her master's degree from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado.

Sue Ann married Robert Knoblauch in 1950, and the couple made their home in Alamosa. Robert passed away in 1971. Sue Ann proudly and lovingly raised eight children. She devoted her life to education, first teaching in the San Luis Valley in Colorado for ten years, and later serving in the Davenport Community School District for more than thirty years. She was a gifted teacher who believed in the worth and potential of every student she met.

A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Sue Ann lived her faith through service. She was deeply involved in her church community and found joy in helping others grow in both knowledge and spirit. Outside the classroom and church, she embraced a wide range of interests. Sue Ann was a talented fair crafter, known for her quilting, crocheting, photography, metalwork, and woodwork. She tended her gardens with care, and was a Master Gardener in Clinton County. She enjoyed the vintage car scene, and especially loved taking her early 70s Jeep Scrambler to shows. She also cherished the freedom of travel, driving her massive RV across the country to visit family and friends, and camp with the Lo-Hi RV Club.

Surviving are her children, Kernen (Debbie) Knoblauch of St. George, Utah, Cheryl (Richard) Scott of Davenport, Greta (Karl) Johnson of Riverton, Utah, Erica (Jaun) Garcia of Pocatello, Idaho, Tasha Visage of Muscatine, Kass (Amy) Visage of Muscatine, and Taun Visage of Albuquerque, New Mexico; along with her 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, one of her children, C. Linn Visage, and her two brothers.

Sue Ann will be remembered for her faith, her creativity, her love of learning, and her unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Her influence continues in the generations she raised, the students she taught, and the countless people she served throughout her life.
