Stanley Douglas Woodman passed away peacefully on the morning of July 8, 2023. He is now united with his wife, Annabelle, who he has missed dearly since her passing December 31, 2022. Stanley was born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 21, 1928 to Florence Violet Jackson. He and his sister Betty moved from Boston to Moffat, Colorado and spent his young life in Moffat. He graduated from high school and attended Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado. Stanley had many occupations helping him discover his potential. He was married on December 28, 1949 to the love of his life, Annabelle Dieckman. They lived in Eugene, Oregon, Romeo, Colorado, Crestone, Colorado, Denver and back to Alamosa. Stanley was employed as an engineer at Public Service Company. Stanley retired and started his second career as a rancher, he enjoyed the endless hours tending to cattle and the land in the Waverly District. He also enjoyed building houses and has built many homes in Alamosa. During his retirement he and Annabelle served in Salt Lake City in the Family History Center, the Denver Temple and the Albuquerque Temple. Stanley and Annabelle enjoyed square dancing for many years.
Stanley was proceeded in death by his wife, Annabelle, sons, Steven Douglas, Jonathan Gragg and grandson Jonathan Douglas, his mother, Florence Violet, his sister, Betty Marie.
Stanley is survived by his children Jim and his wife, Ivone of Tempe, Arizona, Dave of Palm Springs and daughter Camilla Guymon and her husband Ron of Milton, Washington, 13 grandchildren and many, many great grandchildren and caregivers Tess, Teri and Josette.
Stanley was an active member of the Rock Creek Ward of the Church of Jesus of Latter-Day Saints and spent every day of his life helping others and being a disciple of Jesus Christ. If he knew of anyone who he could help he was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Stanley will be missed but we know he is with Annabelle, who he has dearly missed since her passing 6 months ago.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 11am at the Rock Creek Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – 3rd and Richardson Building in Alamosa. A noon drive to Rito Alto Cemetery in Moffat, Colorado will be followed by a 1pm graveside service.
