Obituary

Sidney Ray Weaver, age 60, passed away on April 5, 2026, in La Jara, Colorado.

He was born on August 3, 1965, in Alamosa, Colorado, to the late Richard and Carol Ann (Jack) Weaver. Sid lived a life marked by kindness, humility, and devotion to the people he loved. He carried himself with a steady, positive spirit and was known by those around him as a generous, loving, and thoughtful man who always looked for ways to help others.

Sid cherished his family deeply and took great pride in being an outstanding son, brother, uncle, and great uncle. He is survived by his siblings, Carolyn (David) Faucette of Sanford, Kenneth Weaver of Moffat, Samuel Weaver of Moffat, and Rebecca (Kevin) Neese of Bancroft, Idaho. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, Jeremy (Melissa) Faucette of Sanford, Brittany (Nic) Gilleland of Manassa, Brandi (Tyson) Gilleland of Sanford, Brooke (Brady) Barney of Sanford, Morgan (Jake) Evans of Bancroft, Idaho, Kendra Vance of Kernersville, North Carolina, Jacob (Cheyenne) Neese of Soda Springs, Idaho, and Kimberley (Andrew) Bower of Soda Springs, Idaho. His legacy continues through his many great-nieces and great-nephews, JD, Makynlee, Justin, Jaxen, Maverick, Kennasyn, Durant, Shandon, Taysha, Hayslie, Emeri, Brayton, Lydia, Gavin, Trevin, Kya, Braxton, Kambria, Treyce, Taysom, Luke, Rooster, Tucker, Caroline, Kyrie, Kylen, Ben, Weston, and Kennedy. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, sister Carla and sister-in-law Laura.

Sid found joy in the great outdoors and loved hunting, fishing, riding four-wheelers, and simply being outside. He was also an avid sports fan who faithfully followed all of the Colorado teams, including the Broncos, Avalanche, Rockies, and Nuggets. His love of sports extended beyond watching games, as he also served as a basketball coach and took great pride in encouraging young athletes. He especially loved watching his nieces and nephews, and later his great-nieces and great-nephews, compete and grow through sports.

He was known for his sharp mind and was especially gifted in math. Sid also had a spirit of adventure and, after overcoming his fear of flying, was able to enjoy travel later in life. Among the experiences he treasured were a trip to Alaska, where he enjoyed fishing with the bears, and a visit to the pyramids in Mexico. These memories reflected his willingness to embrace life fully and to make the most of every opportunity.

Sid will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his selfless nature, and the warmth he brought to every relationship. He had a positive attitude that lifted others and a heart that was always focused on family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will remain a lasting source of comfort, strength, and inspiration.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 3 p.m. at Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. To leave online condolences, words of comfort and tributes for Sid's family please visit his obituary at www.RogersFunerals.com.
