Sherry Wynn
Signs
February 23, 1946 – September 27, 2023
Sherry Wynn Signs,77, died peacefully September 27,2023 at her home in Sanford surrounded by her
family. Sherry's declining health in recent months was attributed to her recent diagnosis of ALS (Lou
Gehrig's Disease).
Sherry was born in Alamosa, Colorado on February 23, 1946, to Okie and Melva Wyatt. She was
premature and sent home with the expectation that she would not survive. Her "daddy" put her in a
shoe box by the stove to keep her warm and she was their miracle. She was the only child to her
parents. She married Jack Signs Jr, the love of her life, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Manti Temple in Utah on September 3, 1965. Sherry and Jack celebrated their 58 th Wedding Anniversary
this month and she joyously and sincerely shared her love for him to her family and others up until the
day of her passing.
Sherry spent the majority of her life in Sanford, Colorado being raised there and raising her six children
with her husband there. She attended Adam State College where she met her eternal companion, Jack.
She worked in various secretary positions including Sanford Public Schools and the bank in La Jara. Her
most treasured jobs were doing laundry, cooking, and baking for her large family. She always wished
she had siblings, so one of her greatest desires was to have a house full of children which she achieved.
When Sherry and Jack became empty nesters and retired from their jobs at Sanford Schools, they served
a mission for The Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints assigned to the University of Arkansas Institute.
This was one of the most treasured times of her life. Another cherished time of her life was serving in
the Albuquerque, New Mexico Temple for 14 years with Jack. She was always an active member of
church and willingly served wherever and whenever she was called upon.
Sherry's favorites in life included visiting her kids, grandkids, and great-grandchildren. She loved playing
board games, doing puzzles, reading, embroidery, and spending time with her good friends. Her family
will always remember her "valentine cookies" she would bake because they were enjoyed the most.
Sherry is survived by her devoted husband, Jack E. Signs Jr., Sanford, CO; her children, David (Dianna)
Signs of Kirtland, NM; Diana (Mike) Hammond of Littleton, CO; Craig (Kim) Signs of Cedaredge, CO;
Allison (Mike) Fawcett of Cheyenne, WY; Mark (Jenny Signs) of Sanford, CO; Melanie Signs (Brandon
Cunningham) of Lafayette, CO; as well as twenty-one grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and
numerous extended family and dear friends.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, Okie Wyatt, Melva (Wyatt) Flack, her step-dad, James Flack,
granddaughter Jordan Signs and other beloved extended family.
