Alamosa resident Ruth Mary Aldridge, 81, was taken by angels to paradise on September 8, 2023. She passed away peacefully at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa.

Ruth was born in Alamosa, Colorado to Horace B. Shawcroft and Mary Caryl Crowther Shawcroft on March 10, 1942. She married the love of her life, Dwayne P. Aldridge, on March 26, 1961 in Monte Vista, Colorado.

Ruth worked as a Manager for A&W in Alaska for many years. She loved to cook, and had a talent for making clothing and dolls. She also enjoyed fishing, painting rocks, and gardening. She was a member of the SLV Church of Christ. The congregation children will remember her generosity with making sure they all had candy and sweets after church services.

Ruth is survived by her husband Dwayne Aldridge of Alamosa; her children Eugene (Lori) Aldridge of Baden, PA, and Heather Aldridge of Anchorage, AK; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her siblings Larry Shawcroft of Alamosa, Joan (Mike) Stoeber of Alamosa, Geraldine (Ted) Curtis of Alamosa, Sue (Neil) Hammer of Black Forest, CO, Tom (Dixie) Shawcroft of Fairbanks, AK, Eddie (Vicki) Shawcroft of Alamosa, CO, and Ronnie (Deanna) Shawcroft of Pueblo, CO; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her son Dwayne P. "Hank" Aldridge, her brothers Bob Allen Shawcroft, and James Lewis Shawcroft.

Cremation was chosen and a private family service will be held later.
