Ronald G.
Simpson
September 15, 1949 – May 5, 2026
Ronald G. Simpson, a dedicated educator and lifelong enthusiast of the Colorado outdoors, passed away on May 5, 2026, at the age of 76.
Born in Denver on September 15, 1949, to Floyd Raymond Simpson and Margaret Jane (Johnson) Simpson, Ron's life was defined by a profound commitment to his community and a deep love for the natural beauty of his home state.
After obtaining his Master's Degree in Education, Ron served as a teacher, principal, and superintendent, at various schools in the San Luis Valley. He concluded his career in the Sanford School District that he and his wife dearly loved. He touched the lives of countless students and colleagues with his leadership and mentorship.
A man of steadfast faith, Ron was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church. When he wasn't in the classroom, he was most at home in the wild. He was an avid outdoorsman who spent his happiest hours hiking through the mountains and fishing in quiet waters. He was often seen navigating the backroads in his beloved Jeep, always eager to discover a new trail. His stories of adventure were revered by those that loved his detail and contagious laughter.
Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Loreen "Jo" (Crowther) Simpson; his parents, Floyd and Margaret Simpson; and his brother, Rick Simpson.
He is survived and will be deeply missed by his brother, Donald Simpson, and wife Janelle; his nieces, Tammie Knauer and Tarrie Kendall; and his close friend, Katelyn Winters. Ron's legacy remains in the schools he led, the trails he hiked, and the many lives he shaped throughout his decades of service.
Ron will be laid to rest with his wife in the Sanford Cemetery at a later date.
