Longtime Manassa resident Roberta Sandra Newman, 69, returned to her loving Heavenly Father on May 26, 2021 at the Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. Roberta was born in Alamosa, Colorado on December 23, 1951 the loving daughter of Jose "Robert" Ortiz and Ramoncita (Ramona) Adele Quintana Ortiz. Roberta was an amazing woman and beautiful inside and out. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends making endless memories. She was a very kind-hearted, loving and compassionate person who never knew a stranger. She was also known for her sense of humor, mischievousness and fun spirit. She loved working in her beautiful yard, tending to her flowers and plants, cooking, arts and crafts and reading. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Roberta is survived by her children Heather (Keith) Smith of Sanford and Shane Bagwell of Alamosa; her grandchildren Brooke, Morgan and Hailey Edwards, and Jay, Gavyn and Elijah Smith; her brother and sisters: Janice (Keith) Abbott of Valley Springs, CA, Martha (Charlie) Deshler of Bethpage, TN and Chris (Kelly) Ortiz of La Jara; the father of their children Tim Bagwell of Manassa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Roberta is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Ramoncita and her son Rusty Bagwell. Cremation was chosen and a Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Manassa Cemetery.
