Robert William
Rogers
July 16, 1938 – November 18, 2025
Robert William Rogers, known by friends and family as Bob, left his earthly abode at home on the 18th of November, 2025, in Romeo, Colorado. Born in the warmth of family in Manassa, Colorado on July 16, 1938, Bob's journey began in a home filled with Pioneer history, as he was delivered by his great-grandmother and mid-wife, Edith Dalton Christensen, a testament to the roots and close-knit care woven into his life from the start. His proud parents, the late Arthur William Rogers and Margaret Rebecca (Garland) Rogers, introduced him to a world where family and faith would define his very being.
Bob's life was a beautiful tapestry of connections, most notably with his beloved wife Rena Jean Leavell. Their fateful meeting at a Brigham Young University dance blossomed into a lifelong partnership as they united in marriage in San Francisco, California, on March 5, 1960, an eternal bond fortified in the Mesa Arizona Temple on March 11, 1965.
The joy of Bob's life was his family, illustrated by the legacy of his eight children: Vincent (Marcela) Rogers of Alamosa, Todd (Juliet) Rogers of Colorado Springs, Robert Jr Rogers (Predeceased 01-23-1964) Jason (Kris) Rogers of Riverton, UT, Sterling (Aimee) Rogers of Colorado Springs, Rena (Paulo) Castro of Melbourne, FL, Dana (Josh) Carpenter of Anna, TX, and Joslin (Jacob) Haussler of Rio Rancho, NM. His children and their families, including thirty-four grandchildren and forty-seven great-grandchildren, were the pride and joy of Bob's life, who found great happiness in their accomplishments and growth.
Bob's siblings, Mary Ann Sowards of Manassa, Clark (Trudy) Rogers of Alamosa, and Kenneth (Natalie) Rogers of Antonito, alongside a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and innumerable friends, will carry his memory forth. A farmer by trade, Bob toiled with reverence for the land, nurturing the soil and caring for the crops (potatoes, barely, lettuce, spinach and alfalfa) that served as the backbone of the community. After 39 years of farming, he worked at Safeway in Alamosa as a door greeter for over 5 years. He really enjoyed making new friends and getting reacquainted with old friends.
His passion for work was rivaled only by his delight in hunting, fishing, and absorbing the serenity of the mountains he so adored. The festive snowmobiling escapades and tranquil side- by-side rides through his beloved mountainous sanctuaries encapsulated his adventurous spirit.
His fervor for the outdoors was matched by a profound dedication to his faith. Baptized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in February 1964, Bob's life was deeply enriched by his service in various callings such as Elders Quorum President, Stake High Councilor, and Counselor in the Bishopric. His involvement in the church was an embodiment of his loving, wise, and faith-filled character.
