Obituary

Robert Lee Morgan, Jr., affectionately known as Bobby, passed away on April 10, 2026, in Alamosa, Colorado, at the age of 75.

Bobby was born on October 30, 1950, in Alamosa, Colorado, to the late Robert Lee Morgan, Sr., and Nancy Ann Claunch Morgan. He lived his life with the gentle spirit, warmth, and sincerity that so many came to cherish. In his early years he helped his father and grandfather with tending to their sheep and assisting on the farm, hauling hay, and helping anywhere he could. Those who knew him best will remember him as a kind, loving, and friendly man whose presence brought comfort and joy to family, friends, and all who had the privilege of spending time with him.

Bobby was surrounded by care, support, and love from those closest to him. He found great meaning in the routines, relationships, and activities that filled his days, and he embraced life with a simple and grateful heart. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended the Sanford Second Ward, where he loved being part of the congregation and enjoyed attending church. His faith and fellowship were important parts of his life, and he treasured the sense of belonging they gave him.

He was also a valued part of Blue Peaks Developmental Services in Alamosa, where he enjoyed many years of activities and participation in the organization. Through these experiences, Bobby formed friendships and shared in moments that brought him happiness and purpose. He appreciated being included and took pride in the places and people that made up his world.

Bobby especially loved going to the Sanford basketball games and thoroughly enjoyed watching the State Tournaments. He was delighted on the many occasions when he was allowed to hold the trophy and pose for photographs with it, and those memories became some of his favorites. He also loved having his photo taken in general, and he especially enjoyed doing so at the Annual State Fair in Pueblo. Another favorite pastime was watching the Denver Broncos play football. He was a simple man who found joy in everyday pleasures, including time spent at the Pueblo Mall, where he enjoyed being out and about among others.

He is survived by his siblings, H. Scott Morgan of Sanford and Lori A. Winters of Sanford; his uncles and aunts, Mark and Loretta Peterson, Bobby and Leona Claunch, and Sara Burnette; his nieces and nephews, Blake D. (April) Cowen, Rock N. Cowen, Brandon T. (April) Winters, T.J. Winters, and Alicia M. B. Winters; and many great nieces and nephews, and numerous extended family members, and friends who will forever hold his memory close. Bobby's life was a blessing to those around him, and his gentle nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Deborah Cowen, his nephews Ryan P. Winters, his brother-in-law Brian Winters, his grandparents Harry and Emma June Morgan, his grandmother Birdie Fae Claunch-Kelly, his aunts and uncles James and Karma Claunch, Joyce and Hoyt Williams-Morgan, and Buddy Burnette.
