Rick was much more than a father, grandfather, brother, and friend—he was someone who left a lasting impression on those who knew him. He was hardworking and dedicated, stubborn in the best ways, and known for his sense of humor. He loved to tease, was quick with a joke, and had a way of keeping those around him laughing. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and was someone people could count on.
Rick found his greatest peace and joy outdoors, especially hunting in the hills of Southern Colorado, where he spent most of his life. A skilled marksman, he took pride in his time in the field and the discipline it required. He also loved fishing, camping, watching sports, and, above all, spending time with his family.
He was a proud supporter of his local wrestling community and took great interest in the athletes and events over the years. He especially encouraged those close to him to work hard, stay disciplined, and strive to be their best.
His greatest pride was his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his children: Ryan, Christine, Jared, Tatum (Daniel), and Nolan; along with many stepchildren and grandchildren, including Obie and Raki.
He is also survived by his siblings: Tawnia (Don), Trudi, Rusty (Joelle), Cynthia (Jim), Cydrie (David), Rob (Shawna), and Jamey (Laura).
He was preceded in death by his father, James Lonell Johnson; his mother, Beverly Jack; his stepfather, Robert Jack; his grandparents, Ted and Sadie Johnson and Lloyd and Helen Moss; and his brother-in-law, Skip Adams.
A viewing open to the community
will be held at Rogers Funeral Home on June 23 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, June 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the LDS Church located at 300 Richardson Ave in Alamosa.
The family would like to express their utmost gratitude to all who loved him and supported them during this time. We’ll miss his jokes, his stubbornness, and the way he made life lighter just by being there. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
