Obituary

Longtime Sanford resident Pearl Anntsuyako Koshi, 79, passed away peacefully of natural causes on

January 19, 2024, at San Luis Valley Health in La Jara, Colorado. Born on December 7, 1944, in Denver,

Colorado, to John Tadamachi and Fumi Fay Morimitsu Koshi. Pearl's life was a tapestry of dedication,

imagination, and kindness that touched everyone she knew.

Pearl's passion for education was evident in her achievements. She earned her bachelor's degree at the

University of Northern Colorado and went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Social Work from the

University of Michigan. A lifelong advocate for the well-being of others, Pearl devoted her career to

social services and made significant contributions during her tenure at the Conejos County Hospital.

Her intelligence and creativity were the cornerstones of a life rich with stories and adventures of the

mind. Pearl's love for animals was immense, a testament to her compassionate spirit. She had the

unique ability to weave amazing stories that captivated the hearts of those around her, reflecting her

great imagination.

A resident of the San Luis Valley for most of her life, Pearl found joy in the simplicity of daily pleasures.

She was an excellent cook and baker, taking pride in her collection of kitchen accessories. Her hobbies

included embroidery, where her creativity shone through intricate designs, and she was an avid reader,

always eager to explore new worlds through the pages of a book.

Pearl is survived by her brother Takashi Koshi of Honolulu, Hawaii, her nephew Art Hawai-Chr Yukashi

Koshi, also of Honolulu, her adopted family and great friends Phillip and Tammy Daniels, and their

daughter Cienna Daniels, with whom she shared a very special bond. Her legacy also lives on through

numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation has been chosen, and per her wishes no memorial service will be held. Rogers family
