Patricia Ann
Whitney
October 16, 1943 – December 21, 2025
Patricia (Pat) Ann Whitney (Richardson) of Manassa, Colorado passed away on December 21st, 2025 in La Jara Colorado. Pat was born October 16, 1943 to Jess and Mary Richardson (Kinraid). She married the love of her life, Larry Whitney, in 1965 and had two children: Timothy (Tim) DeWayne Whitney and Cindy Lynn Whitney.
Born in Antonito, Colorado Pat always had a dream to go to college and in 1988 she achieved that dream and graduated from then Adams State College with degrees in Psychology and Spanish and a minor in Sociology. She went on to earn a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and went on to direct the Counseling Center at Adams State.
She was preceded in death by her son, Timothy DeWayne Whitney (Tana) and her husband, Larry Whitney. She leaves behind her daughters Cindy Whitney (Jeff Robison), Carol Whitney Taulbee (Chic), daughter-in-law Tana Whitney (Tim), grandkids Ashley Whitney, Tyler Whitney, and Jordan Whitney, and a slew of nieces and nephews.
Pat created many lasting memories with her family. She was known for making holidays special. She would put together special Halloween bags for all of her kiddos and when they grew up she did the same for their kids and her grandkids. She especially loved Christmas, angels, and nativity scenes. She would decorate her house on the inside and have Larry decorate the outside, for many years it was one of the most lit up houses in town every December.
She loved to fish with Larry, read books, and watch Perry Mason and English mysteries. She loved a good Scotty burger, Lays potato chips, hot dogs, and egg salad sandwiches and I'm pretty sure coffee flowed through her veins as well. She had a wicked sense of humor and was never afraid to speak her mind. She also had a heart of gold and would do everything in her power to help someone she loved.
Pat chose not to have a viewing or a service and wished to be cremated. A small gathering will be held in the spring for family and close friends who wish to say goodbye and celebrate her life. We look forward to hearing all of the favorite memories of her. To leave online condolences, tributes and words of comfort for Pat's family please visit www.RogersFunerals.com.
