Modesto Marcelino Medina, 79, passed away on January 26, 2026, in Denver, Colorado surrounded by his family. He was a resident of Center, Colorado.
Modesto was born on May 19, 1946, in Del Norte, Colorado and was the son of Tobias Medina and Epimenia (Maestas) Martinez.
Modesto was married to Barbara Medina, whom he loved dearly, and they enjoyed over 55 years together. They were inseparable and cherished their time together.
He was an amazing father, grandfather, great grandfather and he loved each family member dearly. Modesto is survived by his children Debbie Martinez (Claude), Marcella Medina (Mike), Randy Medina, Kathy Medina (Ron). He was a loving grandfather/gramps to Nadia Thrower (Kenneth), Derek Garcia (Karina), Jessica Medina (Eric), Ashley Medina, Kayli Barbeau, Claude Martinez (Brianna), Justine Libro (Derek). Great grandchildren include Giannah, Brenden Taylynn, Isaiah, Leo, Cecilia, Cecil, Aliyah, Anayah, Claude, Joseph, Chance, Zaylee, Kaiden, and Ensley. He is also survived by his brother Eddie (Becky) Medina, his sister Nancy Tehero and several nieces and nephews.
Modesto did not receive a formal education but was a self-taught electrician, mechanic, carpenter, plumber a basic "jack of all trades". There was nothing that he put his mind to that he could not master. Modesto was most proud of being able to serve those in his community while being employed by the Town of Center for over 30 years.
Modesto was a parishioner at Saint Francis Jerome Catholic Church in Center where he enjoyed attending mass and prayed the rosary daily. He was an avid fly fisherman and liked spending time in the mountains. After his retirement he found joy in spending time with family, fixing puzzles, playing cards, trying his luck with scratch tickets and taking his daily drive to the post office.
Modesto is proceeded in death by his two sons Lawrence (Larry) Martinez and Daniel Medina.
Modesto will be greatly missed but his legacy and memories will live on through his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as hardworking, loving, non-judgement and an overall good friend.
