Longtime La Jara resident Mitchell Eugene Armstrong, 62, died July 9, 2023 at the San Luis Valley Health Conejos County Hospital in La Jara.

Mitchell's life began in Alamosa, Colorado on October 8, 1960, the son to Dennis E. Armstrong and D. Jean Reynolds Armstrong. He married the love of his life, Sherry Bills in Fort Morgan, Colorado on October 10, 1981.

Mitchell attended Northeastern Junior College for Diesel Mechanics. He worked for most of his life as a Farmer and Rancher and did mechanic work on the side and in the wintertime. Mitchell enjoyed going to the mountains, and teaching his children how to work hard. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. In his younger years, he liked to go snowmobiling and ice fishing, and do some occasional gambling.

Mitchell is survived by his mother Jean Armstrong of La Jara, Colorado; his wife Sherry Armstrong of the family home; his children Dustin (Danielle) Armstrong of La Jara, Tyler (Merisa) Armstrong of Milliken, CO, and Masen (Amber) Armstrong of La Jara; his grandchildren Bailey, Harper, Kymber, and Cooper Armstrong, Jax, Taya, and Kyden Armstrong, Beau, and Georgia Hensley, and Steyr Armstrong; his sisters Heidi Rael of La Jara, CO, and Susan (Larry) Schreiner of La Jara, CO; his father-in-law Wes Bills of Fort Morgan, CO; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family and friends.

Mitchell is preceded in death by his father Dennis, his grandparents Tex and Luella Reynolds, and Harley and Iris Armstrong; and his mother-in-law Zorie Bills.

Cremation was chosen and a Private Family Service will be held at a future date.
