Obituary

Longtime Alamosa resident Miles Franklin Hudson, 84, died September 5, 2021 at the Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs. Miles was born in Pomeroy, Washington the son of John Harrington and Donna (Witt) Hudson on October 1, 1936. He married Karola Kronmuller on April 12, 1958 in Heilbronn, Germany. They enjoyed over 63 years together. Miles served in the United States Army for 20 years, including overseas tours in Vietnam, Korea and twice in Germany. Following his return to the U.S. he was the Army Recreation Director at Ft. Carson. Most recently Miles owned and operated H&H Firewood business in Alamosa for many years and loved cutting wood. Coming from the background of Recreation Director with the Army, he was a sports fan and served as an all sports official for many games. He especially enjoyed going to and watching the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos games. In his earlier years he liked to bowl and did so in three different leagues, he also was a pitcher for fast-pitch softball. Miles could be found fishing and enjoying the mountains or reading books in his spare time. He also enjoyed making silhouettes of many different subjects out of wood. Miles is survived by his wife Karola Hudson (also known as Oma or Carol) of Alamosa; his children Karola (Joseph Sr.) Rivera of Ft. Garland, CO, Michael (Crystal) Hudson of Alamosa, Rickie Hudson of Amberg, Germany, Kenneth (Clarissa) Hudson of Sindelfingen, Germany, Chris Hudson of Loveland, CO and Susanne Hudson of Germantown, Maryland; as well as eight grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Miles is preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Joshua Hudson. Cremation was chosen and a gathering for friends and family will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Boys and Girls Club Gymnasium in Alamosa. Masks are requested to keep everyone safe. Contributions in his memory are suggested to an Animal Shelter of your choice. Rogers Family Mortuary is in care of the arrangements.
