San Luis-
Mercy Mary Valdez, a woman of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024, at the age of 89 in Alamosa, Colorado. Born on February 12, 1935, in Chama, Colorado, Mercy's life was a testament to her unwavering passion for her family and the simple joys of life.

A devoted housewife and mother, Mercy's life was a portrait of love in action. Her selfless nature shone brightly when, after the untimely passing of her sister Bertina, she embraced the responsibility of raising Bertina's children—Walton, Luella, and Ronnie—with open arms and a full heart. Mercy's ability to see and love them as her own was a testament to her boundless capacity for compassion.
Mercy's passions extended beyond her family. She found great pleasure in the simple act of baking, with her famous pumpkin cookies/biscochitos being a much-anticipated treat among friends and family. Her love for cooking shows and game shows reflected her zest for life and her enjoyment of life's simple pleasures.
Those who knew Mercy will remember her as a loving and passionate soul, whose selflessness was as natural to her as breathing. Her caring nature was evident in every action, from the way she nurtured her family to the kindness she extended to everyone she met.
