Joann Marie Holland, known as Joanna to her loved ones and Mrs. Holland to her many cherished students, departed this world on February 25, 2026. She now joins her husband, parents, in-laws, sisters, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, and stepson (Roger Holland) in eternal rest.

She is survived by her children: Cristie and Davin Ortega; Loretta (Brent) Conaway; CJ (Raquel) and family; Robert (Stacey) Holland; Lisa Cordova and family; and Sherrie (Antonio) Ortega. She is also survived by her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Joanna was a lifelong resident of the San Luis Valley, where she pursued her education at Adams State College. Her true passion was teaching and she had a talent for composing her own music on the piano.

She was a very kind, gentle, and generous soul. She never knew a stranger and taught that everyone is a child of God.

Deeply involved in her church as a chorister, she found joy in music throughout her daily life. Her compassionate and loving nature brought out the best in those she met and offered hope to those she encouraged. She created lasting impressions and lifelong friendships.

Joanna, our beloved mother, will be loved and missed by all.

There will be a visitation on Friday, March 6, 2026 at the Rock Creek Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 927 Weber Dr. in Alamosa CO from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Committal will follow in the Manassa Romeo Cemetery.
