Sanford- Marie H. Fleming

Marie H. Fleming, 92, of Sanford passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024 in Alamosa, Colorado. Born on January 5, 1932 in Manassa, Colorado.

Marie's life was marked by her passionate spirit and the joy she brought to those around her.

Marie's early years in Manassa were filled with the simple pleasures of rural life, which she always held dear to her heart. She met and married the love of her life, William Clyde Fleming Jr. Together, they built a life together. After his passing she was filled with memories that she cherished and shared with all who knew them.

Marie was a woman of many talents. Her artistic endeavors were not only a source of personal fulfillment, but also a gift to those she loved.

Marie is survived by her sister Colleen Crowther of Sanford, CO. Her legacy continues through the lives of her cherished nieces and nephews including: Shirley (Larry) Buhr of La Jara, CO, Bill (Marilyn) Crowther of Aitkin, MN, Maurice (Tammie) Crowther of La Jara, CO, and Blake (Kami) Crowther of La Jara, CO, each one carries a piece of her spirit, her teachings, and her unconditional love.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents William Milton Holmes and May Rhue Smith Holmes, her beloved husband W.C., and her brother-in-law, Norman Crowther.

Marie's absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to experience her warmth and generosity. She had a remarkable ability to see the beauty in the world and in the people around her.

A short service and viewing will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Rogers Family Mortuary 205 State Ave. Alamosa, CO 81101. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Bloomfield Cemetery 312 N. Valley View, Bloomfield, New Mexico 87413 at 2:00 p.m.
