Obituary

Maria Rosella Trottner, 78, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, at the San Luis Care Center in Alamosa, Colorado. Born on April 8, 1946, in La Jara, Colorado, Maria's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, dedication, and an unshakeable faith.

Maria's journey began as the cherished daughter of Benito and Helen (Mojica) Maestas. She was a beacon of strength and inspiration within her family, which included her son Dimitri Wolosyn of Lakewood, CO; her sister Marguerite Zambrano of Denver, CO; her daughter Patricia Mojica of Denver, CO; and a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces who will miss her dearly. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Madeline Liedermann, her brother Thomas "Tom" Maestas, and her niece Amanda Maestas.

A dedicated employee, Maria served Delta Airlines with unwavering commitment for 32 years, where she excelled in various roles with a work ethic that was nothing short of remarkable. Her career allowed her to indulge in her passion for travel, exploring many continents, including the enchanting locales of Hawaii and Europe. Maria's professional journey also included 20 years as a professional cook, where she shared her culinary talents with warmth and generosity.

Maria's interests were as diverse as they were profound. A devout Catholic, she found solace and strength in prayer. She was an avid collector of roosters and angels, and her culinary skills were renowned among those fortunate enough to experience her cooking. Maria's love for dance was infectious; she was not only a skilled dancer but also shared her knowledge as a dance instructor at Adams State College, leading her students on international performances. She knew how to dance every Latin dance, and enjoyed doing so.

Her intelligence shone brightly, particularly in her affinity for numbers and math. Maria took pride in her American Indian culture, often wearing t-shirts that expressed her heritage. Her home was filled with the love of her dogs, and she enjoyed the thrill of a good gamble at the casinos.
