In Loving Memory of Lorena Rae Bervig Price

August 16, 1962 – July 21, 2026

With profound sadness, we announce that Lorena Rae Bervig Price went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She passed in the loving arms of her devoted husband and best friend, James “Kent” Price. A peaceful smile rested on her face.

Lorena was born August 16, 1962, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Farris James Bervig and Shirley Yvonne Vranish Sukut Bervig. In 1974, her family moved to Colorado’s San Luis Valley, a place she would forever call home.

Lorena excelled in cross country, track, and basketball. At Trinity Bible College, she earned All-American honors and a bachelor’s degree in education, combining her love of learning with her passion for investing in others.

Kent and Lorena married December 21, 1985, and shared forty beautiful, Christ-centered years. They raised four children, whose spouses Lorena loved as her own, and cherished nine grandchildren.

Lorena devoted herself to her community and generations of young people. She coached track and women’s basketball and poured her heart into leading cross country for twenty years, inspiring athletes with her encouragement and belief in their potential.

Lorena will be remembered most for the way she loved. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She treasured God’s Word and joyfully shared her faith. She loved camping, boating, watercolor painting, playful pranks, tennis, pickleball, and traveling with Kent. They treasured winters in Sun City, Arizona, building lifelong friendships and cherished memories. She proudly served as president of the Paradise Pickleball Club and cherished its community. Above all, her family was her greatest joy.

Lorena was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her husband, James “Kent” Price; her mother, Shirley Yvonne Bervig; her siblings, Royce (Shawn) Bervig, Greg (Cindy) Bervig, David (Laura) Bervig, Bryce (Kristi) Bervig, and Breta (John) Schutte; her children, Scott (Amber) Price, Chad (Danielle) Price, Andrew (Amber) Price, and Hannah (Connor) Malcolm; her grandchildren, Kinsley, Mason, Cohen, Cameron, Liam, Kennedy, Adalynn, Maverick, and Lennox; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice that this is not the end. God’s promises assure us Lorena is free from pain, at peace, and experiencing eternal life with Christ. We hold tightly to the hope of reunion. Her legacy of unwavering faith, unconditional love, kindness, strength, and joyful service will endure in the lives she touched.

Lorena’s greatest desire was for those she loved to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ. She prayed they would find hope, peace, and eternal life in Him and join her in Heaven.

The Celebration of Life will be held August 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Church of the Nazarene, 1106 Second Avenue, Monte Vista, Colorado 81144.

“Because if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” — Romans 14:8
