Obituary

Rose Sanchez, a spirited and faith-filled beacon of love, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, in La Jara, Colorado. Born in San Luis, Colorado, on September 9, 1942, to the late Charlie Kaber and Rumaldita Lucero Kaber, Rose carved a life complete with joy, service, and devotion. She was a cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who brought light into the lives of everyone she touched.

Her journey began in the quiet community where she was born, a place that she carried in her heart throughout her life. Rose's essence was woven into the fabric of her loving family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manuel U. Sanchez, her precious grandson, Obed Sanchez, and her siblings, Charlie, Adelmo, Rudy, Ben Kaber, Theresa Arellano, Irene Martinez, and Esther Kaber. Their memories became a guiding force, as she tirelessly poured love into her family and everyone she encountered.

Rose's warm presence will forever be remembered by her children, Danny Sanchez of Blanca, CO, Denise Sanchez of Pueblo, CO, and Darryl Sanchez of Denver, CO. Her legacy will live on through her grandchildren, Josh and Caleb Sanchez, and her great-granddaughter Jupiter Jansen, who were the sparkle in her eyes. Her sisters, Josie Lee of Silverdale, Washington, and Eliza Workman of Pueblo, CO, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all hold precious memories of Rose's enduring love and support.

For over five decades, Rose dedicated her professional life to healthcare as a receptionist. She retired from Valley Wide Health Systems, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and unwavering support for both her colleagues and the many individuals she served. Her commitment to her vocation enriched the lives of countless people with her kindness and attentive care.

Rose was animated by her faith, an active participant in the Catholic Church, through which she found strength and solace. Her spirituality was a living practice—one of flowers tended in her garden and the joy of birds fed by her hand. Each blossom and song was a testament to her appreciation of the simple, beautiful treasures of life. Rose's spirit, like her cherished flowers, will continue to bloom eternally in the hearts she touched.

A Recitation of the Rosary will be held 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. at the Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church in San Luis. Interment committal services will follow services in the Chama Cemetery in Chama, Colorado.
