Alamosa- Lillian Klutts

Lillian Klutts, a beloved figure in the Alamosa community, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on December 17, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on August 27, 1949, in Alamosa, Colorado, Lillian's life was one marked by love, passion, and a vivacious spirit that left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

A proud graduate of Alamosa High School, Lillian was a lifelong learner, with a particular fondness for word search games, which kept her mind sharp and her curiosity piqued. Her love for her pets, especially her dogs, was well-known, reflecting her nurturing and compassionate nature. Lillian's work ethic was unparalleled, having held multiple jobs throughout her life. She was most fondly remembered for her time as a flagger for the city of Alamosa, where her dedication and hard work were evident to all who passed by. Lillian also took great pride in her custodial role at Adams State University, where she was a familiar and friendly face to students and staff alike.

Lillian's sense of style and enjoyment of shopping were part of her charm. She always took pleasure in dressing up, bringing a touch of elegance and joy to everyday life. Above all, Lillian cherished the time spent with her family. Her presence at family gatherings was a source of happiness and comfort, and her kind, giving nature was a testament to her loving character.

She is survived by a close-knit family who will deeply miss her warmth and guidance. Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Fran (Joe) Mestas, and grandchildren, April, Matthew (Destiny) Mestas, and Akela Mestas. Lillian's sisters, Lydia (Luis) Corona, Linda Quintero, and Lucy Garcia, along with her brothers Bernie Sanchez and Ronnie Sanchez, will fondly remember the sister they adored. Lillian's vibrant life will also be celebrated by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, each of whom she touched with her spirited zest for life.

Lillian was preceded in death by several cherished family members. Her birth mother, Madeline Sanchez, her mother, Delia Lara, her loving husband, John Martinez, and her brothers, Rudy Sanchez and Gilbert Sanchez, all left this world before her. Their memories and the love they shared continue to resonate with those Lillian left behind.

Throughout her life, Lillian embodied the essence of a passionate soul. Her loving nature and spirited presence were contagious, uplifting everyone around her. Lillian's passion for life, work, and family were evident in all of her endeavors, making her a memorable and inspirational figure in the Alamosa community.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 at Rogers Family Mortuary 205 State Avenue Alamosa, CO 81101. A Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024 at 10:00 at the Mortuary. Burial will follow the services at Alamosa Cemetery.
