Obituary

Leslie Edwin Draves, age 83, of Alamosa CO, passed away on June 8, 2026 in Englewood CO. He was born on July 26,1942 in Redvale CO to Edward Ferdinand and Mary Ann Adeline (Cunningham) Draves. He was married to Huberta Kay (Hardesty) 2/9/1962 (divorced) then married Norma Jean (Warrick) 8/23/1968. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, stubbornness, and work ethic. He was a telephone man for over 42 years, starting at 15 years old. He was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He also served on the Alamosa volunteer fire department working his way up to Assistant Chief before retiring. He was a Member of the Alamosa Elks lodge, a past Master Mason and active in the order of the Eastern Star, as well as the Shriners. He was a boy scout leader and helped his oldest son through Eagle scouts. He cared deeply for family and facilitated the family reunion for many years. He retired from the phone company in 2002 to help care for his wife Norma. He loved his kids, grand-kids, raising birds, and tinkering around with all sorts of things. He is survived by his sister Mary Ann McKee, daughter Janeen, son James (Dana), son Randy (Mandi), several adapted kids, 10 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Norma, his son Donald John, his parents, 6 siblings, a son in law, daughter in law, and many friends. A Memorial will be held at the Elks Lodge in Alamosa on June 27 at 2PM.
