Longtime Alamosa resident Lela P. Fidler, 93, died peacefully at the San Luis Care Center in Alamosa, CO, Tuesday night, August 1, 2023.

Lela was born on December 10, 1929 in Stockton California to Claude Hitchcock and Virgie Solberger. She married the love of her life Forrest Fidler on September 30, 1956.

Lela loved to read books, in fact she spent many a days reading. She enjoyed doing word puzzles. The thing that brought the most joy into her life was caring for her granddaughters Brandi and Sheri, and then her great grandchildren. Lela got up early every morning and baked cakes and the famous Sunflower Seed Bread for her daughter Virgie, for the True Grits Steakhouse. Lela helped raise her great grandchildren and spoiled them rotten! Everyone who knew her called her grandma, in fact she always introduced herself as "grandma". Lela was a hard worker who loved her family very much.

Lela is survived by her granddaughters Brandi (Juju) Martinez of Castle Rock, CO, Sheri (Derek) Inness of Rocky Ford, CO, and Ryan Fidler of Emmett KS; her great grandchildren D'Nessa, Tay'Lor, Paige, Bowen, Benjamin, Paisley and Brexton.

Lela is preceded in death by both her parents, her husband, her three children Darrell Fiddler, Vergie Sheeley, and Jess Fidler; two special nieces that she adored, Sharon and Sandie; her siblings Minnie, Elmet, Lawrence, Hubert, Lucille, Cecelia, Dora, and Thelma; as well as numerous aunts and uncles.

Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held Monday August 7th, 2023 at Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa at 10 a.m.
