Sanford resident Kacey S. Mortensen, 41, died August 6, 2021 at the Conejos County Hospital in La Jara. Kacey was born in La Jara on January 7, 1980 the proud daughter of Bruce Dyer and Connie Peterson. She married the love of her life, Steven G. Mortensen, on October 25, 1998 in Fox Creek, Colorado. Kacey worked for many years as an LPN and loved working with old folks and nursing, they all appreciated her compassionate nature. Above all, she enjoyed every minute spent with her family. She liked working alongside her husband driving tractor, farming or treating the animals and keeping them healthy. There wasn't anything she couldn't do. In her spare time she was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. Kacey is survived by her husband Steven Mortensen of Sanford; her children Abby, Grant, Koda and Nona Mortensen; her mother Connie (Terry) Beckner of Alamosa; her siblings Stacy (Jeff) Coleman of Oklahoma, Ryan (Autumn) Dyer of Broomfield, NM, Dewey (Lacy) Dyer of Texas and Gil Dyer of Denver, CO; her parents-in-law Bill and Julie Mortensen; her grandmother Nona Peterson of Albuquerque, NM; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of extended family and friends. Kacey is preceded in death by her father Bruce and her niece Lacey Dyer. Cremation was chosen and a Graveside Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2021 at the Sanford Cemetery.
