Obituary

Mr. Justino Cornelio Madrid, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on December 20, 2025, in Alamosa, Colorado. Born on November 25, 1943, in San Luis, Colorado, to Cornelio and Bertha (Rodriguez) Madrid, Justino's life was a testament to the values of hard work, family, and community.

Justino's early years in San Luis were filled with love. He loved spending time with his family including his eight brothers and sisters. This close-knit group laid the foundation for the man he would become—a pillar of strength and dependability. As he grew, so did his family, with the joyous addition of five children and seven grandchildren, who became the light of his life.

Justino relished the excitement of watching the Denver Broncos play, often accompanied by the simple pleasure of eating Pinon nuts. His love for green chilies was well-known, as he enjoyed them with every meal.

Justino's love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing, come rain or shine. He found solace and joy in the tranquility of nature, a pastime that brought him immense happiness. His adventurous spirit was also reflected in his enjoyment of cycling, taking daily morning rides through town.

A daily visitor to Hooper Hot Springs Pool, Justino cherished the community that became like a second family to him. The pool was his sanctuary, where he started each morning with a swim. Rejuvenating his body and spirit.

His loyal dog, Missy, was a constant companion, and their bond was a beautiful sight to behold. Together, they shared countless hours of companionship and unconditional love.
