Obituary

Julie Ann Geiser, 77, of Alamosa, Colorado passed away on Friday, February 27th, 2026. Julie was born on July 2nd, 1948, in Pueblo, Colorado to Julian and Doris Tracy. Julie was raised in La Veta, Colorado and married J.B. "Chub" Geiser on March 16th, 1969. She became a registered nurse in 1968 and continued to practice nursing for 53 years. She worked in many disciplines of nursing including Pediatrics, Medical Surgery, Cardiac, ER., OB., Office Nursing, and School Nursing. The final 18 years of her career were spent as the Director of the Alamosa County Public Health Department.

Julie was the recipient of the Nightingale Award for Nursing Excellence in the San Luis Valley, and the Lillian Wald Award for outstanding nurse in Public Health for the State of Colorado. She was also the General Federation of Women's Club Woman of the Year. Her name can also be found on the Wall of Fame at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center.

One of most rewarding positions Julie held was through Head Start. She traveled to American Indian / Alaskan Native tribes across the nation and was the only non-Indigenous member of the team.

Julie was known for her infectious laugh and friendly personality. She is survived by her sons, Scott Geiser (Amanda) and Tim Geiser (Yahaira); her grandchildren, Cameron, Abby, and Ashlyne Geiser, and her sister, Glenna Tracy (Mondello). She was preceded in death by her husband J.B. "Chub" Geiser.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 7th at 2PM at the Elks Lodge in Alamosa. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, March 8th at 10AM at the La Veta Cemetery where she will be reunited with her husband forever more.
