Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Jose Miera, a beloved husband, father, friend, and community member, who left us peacefully on June 24, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on August 25, 1937, James spent his life in Alamosa, Colorado, where he touched the hearts of everyone he met. 

James was not just a cook by trade; whose meals brought joy to countless gatherings. His laughter and passion for life echoed in every kitchen, where he masterfully blended flavors and warmth, bringing family and friends together. An avid guitar player and singer, James filled every room with melodies and laughter, creating cherished moments that will forever remain in our hearts.

 A true wrestling aficionado, James enjoyed his weekends rooting for WWE wrestlers with fervor and spirit. He was a devoted Broncos fan, sharing his love for the game with friends and family as they cheered for their team together. Known for his infectious energy and for giving everyone a nickname, James had a unique ability to make everyone feel special and welcomed.

 James’ legacy extends beyond his culinary skills and musical talents; he played an instrumental role in the building of the KGIW radio tower, leaving a mark on the community that will not be forgotten. 

James Jose Miera is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Miera, his children, Bobby Madril, Lorraine Miera, James Miera Jr., Anna (Patrick) Vigil, and Josie Rojo. He is further survived by his sister, Rose (Harry) Mitotes; his grandchildren, Joseph (Lynn), Lizzy, James III, Leanna, Brianne, Austin, Angelo, Desiree, James Douglas, Andrea, Nena, Joseph, and Lisa; along with numerous great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Together, they hold his spirit close, surrounded by the warmth of their memories.

James is preceded in death by his parents; Juan Jose Miera and Reyes Griego, his daughter, Marianne Madril, his son, Marty Madril, his grandchildren; Adrian Madril, Anthony Sandoval, and Michael Madril. As well as his loving sister’s-in-law; Donna Maes, Dorothy Lujan, Jennie Lee, Ruby Medina, Josephine Montez, Josie Lee, Tereina Lee, and Theresa Rael Lee.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in his honor at a date that is to be determined. This will be a time where family and friends will gather to pay their respects and celebrate Jose's remarkable life.
