Obituary

Jose Guadalupe Baroz, affectionately known as Joe to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on the 21st of September, 2025, at his home in La Jara, Colorado, at the age of 77. Joe was born on the 26th of March 1948, in Chamita, New Mexico, to the late Jose Baroz, Sr., and Josefita Garcia Baroz. Along with his parents waiting for him in heaven were his daughter Sandy (Robert) Alfaro, great-grandson Nathaniel Holman, and his siblings Isidore Baroz, Maria Navares, and Ascencion Barela.

Joe was a loving husband to his beloved wife, Sylvia Maria Chacon, whom he married on the 16th of November 1963, in Capulin, Colorado. Together, they shared a life full of joy and lasting memories until Sylvia's untimely passing in 2023. Joe's legacy continues through his cherished children: Connie Medina, Pamela (Alfred) Fresquez, Joseph (Kim) Baroz, Grace (Ever) Ojeda, Alifonso Baroz, and Damian (Tineel) Baroz. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather to eighteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who will dearly miss their "Grampo"

Joe's life was also marked by deep Christian faith that guided him and provided comfort throughout his years. He lived a life of dedication to his loved ones, extending his support with grace and wisdom behind each word of encouragement.

Known for his warmth, sense of humor and friendly demeanor, Joe was a pillar in the community. He spent countless mornings savoring coffee with friends, where laughter and stories were generously shared. Always there for his family, Joe would ensure no one missed their important events and milestones, illustrating his tireless commitment to their wellbeing.

Joe was passionate about various pursuits that brought joy to his life. He had a talent for music, often gracing gatherings with the melodic strumming of his guitar. A man with an admirable work ethic, Joe enjoyed the time he spent at the shop, diligently contributing his skills and expertise. His playful spirit shined through his enthusiasm for the Colorado Lottery, and he cherished moments spent at the casino, gambling with a bright smile. He also enjoyed watching the Denver Nuggets and sure loved it when he had a houseful to enjoy the game with him.

His sweet tooth was legendary among his family, with Joe never passing an opportunity to indulge in sweets—a small pleasure that matched the sweetness he brought into the lives of others.

He leaves behind not only a family but a community enriched by his loving and wise presence. Joe also leaves his sister, Patsy Chacon, his brother-in-law, Eddie (Cecilia) Chacon, and countless nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who had the privilege of being part of his life's journey.
