Obituary

Jon Wade Treibly was born on November 30, 1943 in Ludlow, Massachusetts to Eleanor and Charles Treibly. He passed away peacefully in his home on September 2, 2021 in South Fork, Colorado. He spent his last day playing golf, talking to friends and customers, sitting on the deck with his wife of 51 years, and his dog Georgie listening to bluegrass music. He grew up on the East Coast and graduated from Rador High where he discovered his love for golf as a caddy. He made his first hole-in-one when he was eight. After high school he followed his dream to go west and traveled to Montana where he attended and played football at Montana State. After his stint at Montana State, Jon joined the Merchant Marines. After his adventure in the Merchant Marines, Jon found his way to South West Texas State University (Texas State) where he worked as an underwater clown at Aquarena Springs, rode bareback horses, met his wife Linda, and received his degree in Ag-Business. Jon made his home in Midlothian where he and his wife raised their two boys and built his career. He also raised quarter horses, raced thoroughbreds and promoted horse racing in Texas. Jon spent his career in the golf business, starting as superintendent at Lockhart State Park, and ending up in consultation and sales. He earned the top salesman award when he was working for OM Scott's and Sons and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the North Texas Chapter of GCSAA. He was very proud of being a consultant for the track turf grass during the Breeder's Cup at Lone Star Racing Track. Jon and his wife moved to South Fork, Colorado in 2016 to enjoy fishing, golf, hiking, and mountain life. He continued to work part time, helping his golf course friends grow that grass! Jon was a cowboy, sports fanatic (especially Dallas Stars, Texas Football, and rodeo), salesman, and a loving, caring husband, father, brother, paw paw, and loyal friend. He adored his family, attended their functions, spent quality time camping, taking them to sporting events, skiing, playing golf, fishing, and enjoying family time. He was a strong man who could shed tears when he stood for the Star Spangle Banner. He will be really missed by many. Jon was a member of North Texas GCSAA for years, and Trout Unlimited. His church homes were First Presbyterian Church of Midlothian and Chapel of the South Fork. Jon was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Chuck. He is survived by his wife, Linda; children Shawn and Kim Treibly, Mark and Karen Treibly; grandchildren, Katy, Dustin, Madelyn, Nathan Taylor, Haylee, Lynsie; great grand children, Blake, Landon, Keith and his sister Susann Treibly. There will be a celebration of life in South Fork, Colorado on September 16 at 4 o'clock at the Rio Grande Fishing Lodge and a Memorial Service at the First Presbyterian Church of Midlothian on November 20, at 2:00. Contributions in his memory are suggested to the Kidney Foundation.
