Born to Oswald and Betty Jane Timmins Rilling, who preceded him in death along with his granddaughter.

John's enduring love story with his beloved wife, Kristine Reyhons, blossomed in Alamosa, and they enjoyed several years together. His legacy lives on through his children: John Rilling Jr. of San Antonio, TX, Rachel (Toby) Crowther of Sanford, CO, Brett (Tiffany) Rilling of Bountiful, CO, and Rena Rilling of Sanford, CO. His five grandchildren brought immeasurable happiness to his life. He was a cherished brother to Lori Rilling and Shari Sheppard, both of Alamosa.

John's hands were constantly working with passion and purpose in working the land as a farmer for many years. His contribution to local agriculture was immense, and his tireless efforts brought not only fruition to the soil but also nourishment to his community. Beyond the fields, John's involvement with the Rio Grande Farm Park in Alamosa allowed him to give back, sharing his knowledge and love for the outdoors with others.

An adventurous spirit, John was never one to shy away from a challenge. His courage was as steadfast as his commitment to his family. His handy skills were often on display, fixing and building, ensuring that nothing was ever out of place. In his downtime, John could be found cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, the Colorado Avalanche, and the Colorado Rockies. An avid sports fan, his enthusiasm was contagious, bringing together friends and family to celebrate each play.
