John M.
Pena
February 28, 1954 – September 22, 2025
John M. Pena Sr., 71, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, in the same small Colorado town where his story began in Del Norte Colorado on February 28, 1954. Born to Alfonzo Garcia and Emma Pena, John's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, generosity, and faith.
John was a beacon of joy and creativity. His love for Mexican music and dancing was infectious, and many will remember him for the laughter and smiles he brought to every gathering. A master at the grill, John's barbecues were legendary, a place where friends and family would come together to savor not just the food but the warmth of his company.
Conversations with John were never short of enlightening, often filled with humor and wisdom. He had a special place in his heart for the simple joy of watching cartoons, a pastime that reflected his playful spirit and love for life's uncomplicated pleasures. John's generosity knew no bounds. He was a man who acted on his compassion, helping countless people in his community and dedicating his time to cleaning the yards of the elderly, a service he provided selflessly and with a smile.
A devout Christian, John's faith was a cornerstone of his existence. His dedication to his church and the comfort he found in his beliefs were sources of strength for him and inspiration for others. Every Sunday, he could be found in the pews, his voice joining in hymns of praise and gratitude.
John's legacy is carried on by his beloved son, John Pena the Second, who will continue to walk in the footsteps of his father's loving and creative spirit. John also leaves behind a vibrant tapestry of brothers, sisters, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms to his eternal home.
Those who knew John would describe him as a man of boundless generosity, a loving presence in every life he touched, and a wellspring of creativity. His absence will be deeply felt, but the memories he created will continue to bring comfort and smiles to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
