Monte Vista resident John Pete Medina aka " Jams", 67, passed away on August 5, 2022. He was born in Monte Vista, Colorado to Steven F. and Frances (Martinez) Medina. John graduated from Adams State University with a Bachelor degree in Sociology and Psychology. He was involved in organizing the Hispanic Salute. He enjoyed walking at the park, and his early morning cups of coffee. He was a true outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting, picking pinon and arrowhead hunting. John will always be remembered as a caring, kind and loveable person.

John is survived by his children, Matthew Medina of California, Pete Medina of Corpus Christi, Texas, Henry Medina of Washington DC, numerous grandchildren, his siblings, Susan (Larry) King of Walsenburg Co, Esteban Medina of Monte Vista, Co, David (Victoria) Medina of Monte Vista, Co, Shirley Medina of Walsenburg Co, Madeline (Lonnie) Thompson of Westminster, Co, Kathy (John) Maestas of Monte Vista Co, Dorothy Medina of Monte Vista Co, Cindy (Estevan) Lopez of Monte Vista Co, Ralph (Maria) Medina of Denver Co, Mike Medina and Deann Ibarra of Monte Vista Co, and Eduardo Gonzales of Alamosa, Co as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Brooke Medina, his maternal grandparents Pete and Matilda Martinez as well as his paternal grandparents Ralph and Eufemia Medina.

Cremation was selected and a Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 7:00 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista, Colorado.
