Longtime Hooper resident John "Wayne" Garcia, 82, passed away on November 15, 2022. He was born on February 7, 1940 in Saguache, Colorado to Victor and Tomisita "Martinez" Garcia. He was a lifetime farmer and loved to play the guitar.

Wayne is survived by his wife Grace Garcia, his children Glen Garcia and Patti Medina, his grandchildren Tori (Michael) Espinosa, Celica Garcia, Micaela Lopez, Rainah Medina and Reyes Medina, his great grandchildren Sophia and Jade Ordonez as well as his siblings, Patsy Garcia, Loretta (Quias) Lujan, Pete (Liz) Garcia, Dickey Martinez, Hank Martinez and Fred (Terrie) Martinez, sisters-in-law Emma and Gretchen as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He is also survived by his close friend Lewis Entz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son baby John and his siblings, Irene Parcells, Robert Garcia, Agnes Archuleta and Tommy Garcia.

Cremation was selected and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday December 2, 2022 at the Center United Methodist Church followed by inurnment at the Homelake Veterans Cemetery at 12:00 pm. To express condolences, please visit www.rogersfunerals.com
