Obituary

Jennifer "Jenny" Jean Kroschel went to be with her Father in Heaven September 26th, 2023. Jenny was a light in this world with every step she took. She loved people and especially loved the people that knew her name.

Jenny was born to Betty Moore (Atencio) on March 30th, 1977 with an unexpected diagnosis of down syndrome. Betty stood by Jenny's side in the hospital despite what was medically understood about down syndrome in 1977. Jenny was later blessed with her little sister Kristi in which they grew an unbreakable bond in trying times of their childhood. Soon after, she was given another little sister Antoinette "Toni" and her little brother Kevin. Her papa Greg Atencio came into her life not long after and loved her dearly and raised her as his own.

She enjoyed her time in school and her time on the Special Olympics Team. Jenny adored her siblings and mama and papa. She always had an ear to ear smile, but don't let her smile fool you. Jenny was very ornery & stubborn; she loved some good humor. Jenny was much smarter than many gave her credit for. After High school Jenny got a "job" working at the Green Spot on State Street with Ruthie Brown. She would talk about work all week and anticipated the days she would get to go to work. When she would come home she always told everyone what hard work she did that day. Jennifer's favorite holiday was her birthday, March 30th. She had a rule given to her by her mama that she could not talk about her birthday until after Christmas (her second favorite holiday) Ruthie would take Jenny for a Birthday dinner every year and Jenny was sure she would never let Ruthie forget. Ruthie would tell customers when they came to her store to approach Jenny and call her by her name. If you were one of those people you got to experience a true hug and a smile with "you know my name". Jennifer touched every single person she met. She always had a knowledge of who Jesus was and loved to sing praises to God. She faithfully "read" her Bible and prayed every night. During church she raised her hands high and praised Jesus.

Jennifer is survived by her Mama and Papa (Betty and Greg Atencio). Her little sisters- Kristi (Guillermo) Chamorro; Antionette "Toni" (T. Jay) Vigil; Her little brother Kevin (Chelsy) Kroschel; Her nieces & nephews-Hannah, Daisha, Natalie, Zay, Carlos, Adrian & Neveah; Luke, April & Autumn; Trevor, Mason ,Lincoln & Emily. Her great niece & nephew Zekerez and Daisy; as well as many, many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jennifer was preceded in death by several family members on multiple sides of the family and her niece Kati Leah Pierce.

A service of life will be held at the Feed Store Family Training Center on Saturday, September 30th, at 11 a.m. refreshments to follow. We ask that everyone wear purple as this was Jenny's favorite color.
