In Loving Memory of Jeanette S. Davis
September 27, 1934– July 29, 2025
In the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the Lord called Jeanette S. Davis home who was 90 years old. Born in Griffin, Georgia to the late John Mack Stiles and Delila DeMoss Stiles, Jeanette lived a life marked by fierce ambition, boundless love, and an unforgettable spark.
Jeanette built her career with impressive tenacity—climbing to leadership roles at Thorsen Tool Company, EDS, and Emergency Networks in the Dallas area, and later heading customer service operations at UPS in Denver, Colorado. Upon retiring, she poured her heart into co-owning and managing "Goodnight's Lonesome Dove Campground & Cabins" in South Fork, Colorado. Eventually settling in Creede to be near her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette found joy in a slower rhythm filled with community, family, and her passions.
A longtime member of Creede Baptist Church, she lovingly taught Vacation Bible School for many years alongside her daughter, Connie Goodnight. Her faith, warmth, and unwavering love for people made her unforgettable to all who crossed her path.
Jeanette was a woman of many talents: a devoted reader, puzzle enthusiast, and gifted painter whose artwork reflected the beauty she saw in the world around her. Her later years at River Valley in Del Norte were filled with comfort, wildlife drives, views of the river, and her beloved chocolate milkshakes.
Described affectionately as a "firecracker," "a hoot," and sometimes "just a mess," this five-foot redhead was unapologetically herself—full of life, unfiltered honesty, and laughter. Her presence lit up every room and her absence will leave a profound silence.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Davis, her sisters, Frances Eppinger and Carol Davies, both of Georgia and her grandson, Zachery Charles Goodnight of Red Oak, Texas.
She is survived by her daughter Connie Goodnight and son-in-law Robert Michael Goodnight, her son Michael Davis and Connie Wright. Grand children, Savannah Davis, Reid Goodnight, Justin Goodnight, James Cody Goodnight & his wife, Pamela Goodnight. Great Grand Children, Danielle Goodnight Trodick and her husband, Joe Trodick, Aiden Goodnight, Waylon Goodnight and Wilder Goodnight. Great-Great Granddaughter, Macie Trodick. Along with a host of beloved family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2025 at the Creede Baptist Church, with burial following in the Creede Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Rogers Family Mortuary of Monte Vista and the Creede Baptist Church, who are lovingly coordinating the celebration of her life.
