Janice Lynn Collister, 67, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, at her home in Saguache, cradled in the warmth of her loving family. She was born on April 28, 1958, in Hot Springs, Montana, to Donald and Virginia Gray.
On February 13, 1988, Janice united in marriage with the love of her life, Randy Collister, in Hastings, Nebraska. Their loving partnership was a testament to devotion and mutual respect, cherished by their family and friends. Janice, a devoted mother, is survived by her adoring daughters, Kristine (Tim) Flesner of Lincoln, NE and Branda Collister of Saguache, CO. Her legacy continues through the eyes of her treasured grandchildren, Grayson and Norah Flesner, who brought boundless joy and purpose to her days. She is also survived by her brothers, John Gray of Longmont, CO, Doug Gray of Englewood, CO, and brother and sister-in-law, Roland (Cindy) Collister of Juniata, NE. She was predeceased by her brother David Gray and her parents.
Janice attended and earned her associate's degree from the Lincoln School of Business in Nebraska, which underpinned her successful career as an accountant. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to work in construction and nurture her passion for raising animals, particularly her beloved horses.
Janice enjoyed work as a re-enactment actress at The Fort in Custer, SD, where she brought historical characters to life with her signature flair. She also enjoyed her volunteer work at the museum in Custer. An artist at heart, Janice loved painting, and puppet ministry. Every morning started with a cherished hot cup of coffee, and this simple pleasure set the tone for days filled with cherished moments with her family. She enjoyed watching and supporting Branda's barrel racing.
Janice enjoyed going on adventures with her brother John. She also loved exploring the historical landscapes of Colorado, South Dakota, New Mexico, and Nevada. Her life was a journey of discovery, shared with those she loved. A devoted member of the El Samaritano Baptist Church in Saguache, CO, Janice's faith was a beacon of hope and a source of comfort and guidance throughout her life.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the El Samaritano Baptist Church in Saguache. Rogers Family Mortuary Is in care of arrangements.
