It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Jacob P. Valdez, a devoted son, steadfast friend, and cherished member of our community, who left us unexpectedly on June 23, 2026, at the age of 34. Born on January 2, 1992, Jacob was a lifelong resident of Alamosa, Colorado, where he embraced life with an unwavering spirit and served as an inspiration to those fortunate enough to know him.
He channeled determination and dedication into his role at the local Rakhra Mushroom Farm, always willing to lend a hand and contribute positively to his workplace and community. Jacob also demonstrated his dedication at his job at Adam State University.
His passion for hard work was matched only by his love for music, particularly his skillful guitar playing, which brought joy to family and friends. Whether sharing melodies around a campfire or engaging in spirited discussions about video games and shooting guns, Jacob’s infectious enthusiasm and genuine nature drew people to him.
Jacob is survived by his loving parents, Mitchell Valdez and Gina Valdez, who remains forever proud of his son’s accomplishments and the countless lives he touched. He is further survived by sister, Vanessa Valdez; his nieces, Naticia Valdez, Naliyah Valdez, and N’Ryah Valdez; and his Grandma, Frances Gallegos. His memory will echo in the hearts of those who knew him, and his unwavering spirit will live on in their stories and recollections.
Jacob is preceded in death by his Grandparents, Victoria and Samuel Valdez; his uncle, Anthony Gallegos; his cousin, Lisa Gallegos; and his Grandpa, Eugene Gallegos. There will be a Funeral Mass service in his honor on Wednesday, July 1st, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:00 am. In this time of sorrow, we encourage all to remember Jacob not only for the loss we feel but for the love and light he brought into our lives. May we carry forward his legacy of hard work, honesty, and passion in all that we do. Jacob P. Valdez will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
I Made it Home
I just wanted to let you know that I made it home.
The journey wasn’t an easy one, but it didn’t take
Too long. Everything is so pretty here, so white, so
fresh and new. I wish you could close your
eyes so that you could see it too.
Please try not to be sad for me,
Try to understand God is taking care of me…
I’m in the shelter of His hands.
Here there is no sadness, no sorrow, and no pain.
Here there is no crying
And I’ll never hurt again.
Here it is so peaceful
When all the angels sing.
I really have to go for now…
I’ve just got to try my wings.
