Jack Eldon Seneff was born in Monte Vista, to Chester and Lucille (Hicks) Seneff. The second of three children, Jack loved treasure hunting and later became a prospector. Jack maintained his love of treasure hunting as an adult, and searched diligently for Montezuma's legendary lost treasure, on Wolf Creek Pass. Jack survived the Korean Conflict, and continued his military career in the National Guard. Afterward, Jack helped place the electrical transmission lines from Salida into the Valley. Jack worked at many jobs in his lifetime, from well driller and truck driver at M&G Drilling, to heavy equipment mechanic/operator at the Monte Vista starch plant, maintenance/fueler at the Alamosa Airport, and bartender at the American Legion in Monte and the Elks Lodge in Monte Vista and Alamosa. Jack loved people, dancing and BINGO! He was the life of the party, and had friends all over the Valley. Jack married Barbara Robins in 1949 and became a father in 1951. Jack was remarried to Marybeth Ekstrom in the 70s. They became snow birds and made annual pilgrimages from Crestone to Elephant Butte Reservoir and Puerto Penasco, Mexico for 30 years. In the latter chapters of his life, Jack moved from Crestone to the old Soldier's Home (CSVC) in 2009. Jack peacefully passed away in the Rio Grande Hospital 6/30/21 at 7:04 am. Jack is survived by his five children, Sue, Jane, Neil, Teri and Chris, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
