Longtime valley resident Ida Louise Velasquez, 72, passed away on February 2, 2022. She was born on April 13, 1949 in Alamosa, Colorado to Fred and Magdelina (Romero) Olguin. She worked as an educator for many years and took pride in helping children. She was an active member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed listening to music, gambling and above all, spending time with her family.

Ida is survived by her children, Lauriene Gonzales, Delbert (Angel) Velasquez and Lisa R. (Luis Castro-Villa) Velasquez, her grandchildren, Michelle (Ivan) Rodriguez, Cristoval Torres, Cristina Torres, Lucia Torres, Delyana Velasquez, Delbert Jose Velasquez, Alejandro Gonzales and Adan Gonzales, her great grandchildren, Ivan and Leo Rodriguez, Yovani and Nathaniel Gonzales and Ivette Rodriguez as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Jose Delbert Velasquez.

A Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday February 8, 2022 at the St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Capulin.
