Obituary

Howard David Timmins, known fondly as David or "Tiny" to his family and friends, passed away peacefully at home in La Jara, Colorado, on June 9, 2025. Born on June 2, 1962 to Thomas Timmins and Zoe Groshart in Alamosa, CO.

A dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, David's faith and belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ carried him throughout his life. His faith led him to serve an 18-month mission in Belgium when he was 19 years old. He loved and cherished his mission and the people he met throughout his life, always having a desire to go back if he ever had the chance. Throughout his life, he served in numerous church callings, including the last few years as a primary teacher for the four-year-olds who called him "Grampa."

On June 8, 1984, David married the love of his life Debra Jackson, in the Jordan River temple and was sealed for time and all eternity. They spent 41 years together, navigating the highs and lows of life. He is survived by his wife Debra and their four sons; Dustin (Linda) Timmins, Flint (Adriene) Timmins, Hayden (Teanna) Timmins, and Skyler Timmins, along with eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother Zoe Timmins and his five siblings, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Timmins and his granddaughter, Grace Timmins.

During his life he worked many jobs in the agricultural community, including farming with his dad. He later spent many years greeting people as a baker at City Market, a job he always cherished.

David was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to baseball and the Colorado Rockies, his favorite team. He also enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play sports and always took pride in their successes as well as their interests and extracurricular activities.

He enjoyed gardening and working with his hands alongside his wife on their Little House on the Prairie. He was also known for his singing voice and love of music.

He valued the importance of hard work, caring for others, and taking notice of the small things in someone's life. He was a cherished husband, father, grandpa, brother, son and friend and he will be missed dearly.

Services will be held Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in La Jara, CO, with a viewing at 9 am followed by the funeral at 10 am. He will be laid to rest in the Monte Vista Cemetery.
