Monte Vista resident Heriberto L. Lozoya, 77, died January 30, 2022 at the Rio Grande Hospital in Del Norte.

Heriberto was born on April 7, 1944 in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose Manuel Lozoya and Eloisa Loya. He married the love of his life, Emma Sanchez in Pecos, Texas in 1983.

Heriberto worked for 27 years driving truck in the feed yard in Garden City, Kansas. He loved listening to music and in his younger years enjoyed dancing. He enjoyed talking to people and joking around. Heriberto enjoyed working on his yard and keeping his lawn nice, and loved his pets like they were his babies.

Heriberto is survived by his wife Emma of the family home in Monte Vista; his children Francine (Sigifredo Rodriguez, Sr.) Lozoya of Monte Vista, Blanca Lozoya of Pueblo West, CO and Harry (Nicole) Lozoya of Greeley, CO; his step-children Lani Suazo of Baltimore, MD and Joey Suazo of Colorado Springs, CO; his grandchildren Sigifredo Rodriguez, Jr., Bianca Rodriguez, Cassie Garza, Presley Lozoya, Maverick Lozoya; his great-grandchildren Malachi Lozoya and Maddix Rodriguez; his siblings Trini (Rebecca) Lozoya, Manuel (Bertha) Lozoya, Rufugio (Helen) Lozoya and Estevan (Estella) Lozoya; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Heriberto is preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Christopher Lozoya and his brother Samuel Lozoya.

A visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m., followed by a Recitation of the Rosary Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Monte Vista. A second Rosary will be held at Rogers Family Mortuary in Monte Vista on Monday, February 7, at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. Burial will take place in the San Luis Valley Cemetery.
