Harry James "Jim" Hollmer, passed April 17, 2026 at the age of 89,
Jim has gone to be with parents Harry Otto and Toots Hollmer, both his sons Michael and John, longtime companion and former wife Pat Stoops, his sister Marianna Brandt and great grand-daughter Rae Leigh Klasing.
He is survived by both his brother Tom Hollmer (Carol) of Center, CO; both of his daughters Debbie Meekins, Pensacola, FL, Terri Mann (Cloyce) of Canon City, CO ; grandchildren Nicolas Mann and Emily Mann both of Canon City, CO, Candice Emerson (Chase) of Pace, FL, Matthew Meekins (Ashley) of Pensacola, FL, Haley Hollmer of Colorado Springs, CO and many great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Jim was born April 10,1937 in Needles, CA, grew up in the San Luis Valley, graduated from Moffat High School in 1955. Jim held many jobs during his lifetime, to name just a few; he rode the ditches for farming irrigation, was a deputy sheriff in Center. He and his family moved to Fremont County where he worked in the prison system as a guard. From there he worked at Portland Cement Plant and after retiring there returned to Crestone in the San Luis Valley, and began working for the Town of Crestone, he also worked in the potato fields during harvests for a few years.
Jim was a great friend to many people, all anyone needed to do was call him and he would come to the rescue for any number issues he didn't know the word "NO".
In the past he was involved with the Arkansas Valley Flywheelers Tractor pulling club, he was very proud his of collection of antique tractors he always intended to restore.
Cremation was performed at the Rogers Family Mortuary Crematory in Alamosa, and a Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2026 at the Crestone Baptist Church in Crestone. Contributions in his memory are suggested to the Crestone Baptist Church.
