Gilbert
Ribal
August 2, 1934 – April 13, 2025
Jose Gilberto Ribal's life began on August 2, 1934 on Cumbres Pass located in the San Juan mountains on the Colorado-New Mexico border. It was there where his adventurous spirit began. As an adult, his construction and mining jobs took him from Colorado to Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and Nevada. With the experience and training that he gained, he became the first entrepreneur in his family by establishing Gil's Drilling & Blasting, Inc. Upon retirement, he returned to his childhood home, the San Luis Valley, to enjoy fishing, family and friends that he so enjoyed as a boy.
He passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025 in Monte Vista, CO. Gilbert leaves his love to his children, Gilbert Ribal, Rose Mary Jamison, Elizabeth Ribal and his best friend, Mae Medina, as well as many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Cornelio and Adela Ribai and his siblings Eutilia Trevino, Cornelio John Ribal, Pete Ruybal, Bernida Sanchez, Irene Medina, Bertha Atencio Ribal, and Chris Roybal.
Those who remember him may join the family at noon, June 28, 2025 at River Park in Del Norte, CO to tell fishing stories and fond memories.
